Back in the 1960s, surf shops sold surfboards and not much else. Jams World's founder, Dave Rochlen, had the idea to cut printed pajama pants and have his wife hem them at the knee so he could surf in them. He started selling them in his surf shop, and they quickly gained wide spread popularity. "Jams", short for pajamas, were born.
